This month our class worked on earning 600 points collectively on Class Dojo, and I'm thrilled to report that we did it! In celebration of reaching our goal we're going to have Toy Day! Students will be allowed to bring in one toy on Tuesday October 27th to show and tell with their classmates.
I explained to students that they should bring a toy that can fit in their backpack and one that isn't too fragile or valuable since they'll be responsible for it on the bus. During snack time, students will be able to share their toy with classmates and check out others' toys as well.
I'm so proud of the teamwork and hard work students demonstrated to earn this goal.
One example of their terrific teamwork was their participation in Read for the Record Day yesterday. The entire McGovern School read the story Not Norman together in the cafeteria. Our class was quiet, respectful listeners and set a great example of assembly behavior for the younger children at school. The neat thing about the assembly is that we were part of a community of readers around the world trying to break the world record for the number of people reading the same book on the same day. Stay tuned to hear if we were successful!
Looking ahead, we'll have a lot of exciting things happening at McGovern next week. The Scholastic Book Fair will be visiting us and students will have a change to book shop during their library time at 1:10 on Wednesday. Next week we will also celebrate school spirit by wearing orange and black on Friday to show our excitement for Halloween!
