This update begins with an overdue THANK YOU to the volunteers who were able to assist our class on Pumpkin Day. The children worked in centers that incorporated science, math, poetry, writing, and even a fun craft! Enjoy the video below of highlights from our afternoon:
THANKSGIVING SHOW
Families are invited to our Thanksgiving performance on Wednesday November, 23rd at 9:30 in the McGovern School cafeteria. Following the program, you are invited back to room 3 for a family craft. The performance and craft combined will be about an hour. School ends at noon on Wednesday, followed by no school on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving break.
FOOD DRIVE
Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food donations for the Medway Food Pantry this week. Our pre-school class will collect the items on Friday the 19th as part of their special community service learning project.
LITERACY MONTH
Last week your child brought home a bright green literacy bingo board. I encourage families to try as many of the activities as this busy month allows to get your child excited about literacy. Bingo boards with at least one completed row should be brought back to school at the end of the month to be entered into a drawing.
NON-FICTION
This month we're beginning new units in both reading and writing. Your child will become an expert in their favorite topics like animals, space, sports, weather, and famous people! If you get a chance to visit the Medway library this month, I encourage you to help your child find non-fiction books to check out and read at home.
VOLUNTEERS AGAIN
If any parents are interested in visiting to help with cutting/hole punching/laminating I have a few more projects that need to be completed and welcome any and all help. Pretty much any day during school hours will work, so please email me with a time slot if you'd like to come help.
