Good afternoon!
We just wrapped up our first full week of the school year. We finished our first math unit on counting, we jumped into writing about small moment stories in Writer's Workshop, and we're continuing to build good habits as readers in our writing workshop.
Today, many students chose to cash in some of their Class Dojo points. Ask your child about some of the fun incentives they picked or are working towards.
Next week will be an exciting one because it is our first week with homework! Students will come home on Monday with a list of spelling and sight words to practice nightly, a Family Letter that outlines our next chapter in math, along with a math worksheet. Also, students will bring their BEAUTIFUL new book bags home to show you! These bags will be the key element to our home/school connection this year. Each night, M-Th students will bring home their blue bag full of books that were thoughtfully selected by your child based on their interests and their current reading fluency and comprehension ability. These books are to be practiced for at least 15 minutes each night. They must come back to school every day because they will be the same books students read during reader's workshop. This will be a fun and meaningful way for students to extend the work they do here each day at home. I'm really excited for our class to get started!
Have a wonderful weekend, and try to stay dry! :)
