It was so nice getting to chat with all of you over parent teacher conferences last week. One question that came up a lot was how parents could support their children as readers. Many of you have noticed that your kids are bringing home books with words they can decode and it's getting easier and easier for them. One way children show that not only can they read words, but they can understand their books too is through retelling. We hung this chart up in our classroom to encourage kids to show what they've learned from their books through a "three scoop retell." You can use this as a tool to support their work!
Also, THANK YOU so much to those of you who participated in the mitten drive. We have collected a basket full of gloves and mittens for children in need. We will be collecting them through the rest of thisweek.
